FAMILY PORTRAIT began with a self-portrait and later I continued with portraits of both parents. I wanted to create a moment captured in time - a memory. All the portraits also have a collage of my poetry added. The portrait with my father was created in response to mine.
The basis for the painting was a profile photo of me. The process of painting did not rely so much on a completely classic realistic portrait, but I still wanted to portray it as recognizably as possible. These four images show the similarities and differences between the photo and the final painting. For ease of comparison, I wanted to show the gradual disappearance of the photo.
